The ICFAI University Tripura organised a voluntary blood donation camp on April 10, marking World Health Day 2026, with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff.

The programme, held at the university campus in Kamalghat, Mohanpur, saw a total collection of 130 units of blood, reinforcing the institution’s continued commitment to community service and healthcare support in the region.

The event was inaugurated by Swami Amartya Nanda Maharaj of the Ramakrishna Mission, Agartala, who attended as the chief guest and highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and building social responsibility. He encouraged young donors to continue participating in such humanitarian initiatives.

Dr Subhashis Roy, Deputy Director of Blood Transfusion Services, Government of Tripura, attended as the special guest and emphasised the ongoing demand for blood in the state. He appreciated the university’s consistent efforts in contributing to emergency medical needs and supporting the blood bank system.

The welcome address was delivered by Registrar Dr A. Ranganath, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Rajiv Kumar Mandal, Principal of the Allied Health Science Department.

Officials from the Blood Transfusion Services and IGM Hospital, Agartala, managed the collection and storage of the donated blood units. Members of the NSS unit of the university also actively participated in the drive.

Speaking at the event, Swami Amartya Nanda Maharaj urged students to adopt voluntary blood donation as a regular social practice, describing it as both a humanitarian duty and a way to develop compassion and discipline.

University Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Biplab Halder expressed gratitude to all participants for their contribution, stating that such initiatives reflect the institution’s strong focus on social responsibility and public welfare.

The university noted that in 2023, a similar drive had collected 127 units of blood, and this year’s higher collection of 130 units marks a new milestone for the institution, strengthening its reputation as one of the leading academic contributors to voluntary blood donation efforts in the state.
