Key BTC Departments Reallocated in Fresh Administrative Reshuffle

Key BTC Departments Reallocated in Fresh Administrative Reshuffle

PratidinTime 1 month ago

A partial reshuffle of departmental responsibilities within the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in Assam has led to the reallocation of several key portfolios, as part of ongoing efforts to streamline administrative functioning and enhance public service delivery across the Bodoland Territorial Region.

Under the revised arrangement, BTC Deputy Chief Rihon Daimary has seen an expansion of his responsibilities, with additional charge of the Agriculture, Labour Welfare, and Information & Public Relations (I&PR) departments added to his existing portfolio. The move is aimed at strengthening coordination in key development and welfare sectors that directly impact grassroots governance in the region.

In a parallel change, BTC Executive Member Derhasat Basumatary has been assigned the Health & Family Welfare and Printing & Stationery departments. His earlier responsibility for SEED (ITI Part) has been withdrawn as part of the administrative realignment, reflecting a redistribution of departmental workload among council members.

Meanwhile, Executive Member Begum Akhtara Ahmed has been relieved of the Labour Welfare and Information & Public Relations portfolios. She has now been entrusted with the Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Lottery departments under the revised allocation.

According to an official notification issued by the IBA Department of the BTC Secretariat on June 9, 2026, the changes have been made as a modification of earlier orders issued in March and May 2026. The order stated that the decision was taken in the interest of public service and for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the Council.

The notification further clarified that all changes have come into force with immediate effect, marking an immediate administrative realignment within the BTC governance structure.
