Minor Girl From Guwahati Rescued After Being Trafficked and Sold Twice Across States

In a shocking case of human trafficking, a minor girl from Guwahati was sold twice after being taken outside Assam. The incident, which took place last year, has surfaced now after the police successfully rescued the girl and apprehended three people in connection with the entire case.

According to the police, one of the accused, identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique, a resident of Balukabari, Chhaygaon, on the outskirts of Guwahati city, abducted the minor girl on the pretext of love and took her to Bihar.

The victim’s mother, a resident of Katahbari under the Garchuk police station, registered a complaint on August 7, 2025, after her daughter had been missing for over a day. She told the police about receiving a phone call from Siddique in which the latter mentioned taking the girl away.

The police registered a case numbered 239/2025 and launched an investigation into the matter. At the time, the victim was 17 years, 1 month and 11 days old, as per official records.

The police investigation revealed that the accused, Abu Bakkar Siddique, convinced the minor girl to leave home. He then reportedly took her to Bihar, where they stayed together in an apartment named ‘Patliputra Heritage’, Block A, Room No. 304. The accused was also working at a mushroom company near Patliputra railway station.

During the course of the investigation, the police arrested Siddique, who was interrogated. During the questioning, he mentioned that while in Bihar, he came in contact with a couple, Ankit Kumar and Kajali Kumari.

Siddique confessed to selling the minor girl to a brothel for Rs 5 lakh in collusion with the couple. The victim was then kept at the brothel for nearly two months before being sold again.

Continuing their investigation, the police found out that the minor girl had been sold again. This time, she was taken to Rajasthan, where she was sold to another person.

Based on this information, the police arrested three people: Abu Bakkar Siddique, Ankit Kumar, and Kajli Kumari. Later on, the victim was also rescued from Rajasthan and has been brought back safely to Guwahati.

Meanwhile, the police have kept the investigation ongoing as they try to identify more people involved in the network and to determine the full scale of the trafficking racket. Officials described the case as deeply disturbing, highlighting concerns over how minors are being targeted and trafficked across state lines under false promises of love and marriage.
