A road accident in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district claimed the life of a woman and left 22 others with minor injuries after a private passenger bus overturned on Monday morning.

According to the report, the incident took place near the Balenga area under Bastar police station limits when the bus, travelling from Raipur to Sukma, lost control on National Highway-30 and turned over.

The report said that the vehicle was carrying more than 35 passengers at the time of the accident. Most of them were asleep when the mishap occurred in the early hours.

According to preliminary information, the bus went out of control after the driver allegedly dozed off while driving, leading to the overturning of the vehicle.

The deceased has been identified as a woman who was travelling to Sukma, where she was posted as a teacher in the Dornapal area.

The report confirmed that 22 passengers sustained minor injuries in the accident. Locals rushed to the spot and helped rescue passengers trapped inside the overturned bus.

All the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. and also a case has also been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
