Addressing the media outside 10 Janpath in New Delhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, reiterated the Opposition's firm stance on the ongoing controversy surrounding the education sector.
He stated that both the Opposition and student groups are united in their demands, particularly calling for the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Gandhi emphasised that the concerns raised by students reflect a broader crisis within the country’s education system. “We have made our position clear, and students across the country have also voiced their demands. We stand with them and continue to repeat their call for accountability,” he said.
Launching a sharp attack on the Education Minister, Gandhi alleged that Pradhan represents a deeper systemic failure. He described the minister as a “symbol of the collapse of the education system,” holding him responsible for the current state of affairs. Gandhi further asserted that the situation warrants immediate action, reiterating the demand for Pradhan’s resignation.
The Congress leader’s remarks come amid growing protests and political pressure over issues related to education policy and governance. With student voices gaining momentum and Opposition parties backing their demands, the controversy has intensified, placing the Centre under increasing scrutiny.
Gandhi concluded by stressing that accountability and reform are essential to restore confidence in the education system, underlining that the demand for the minister’s removal is central to that process.
