'Robin Army': Singer Manas Robin Launches App to Support Unemployed Youth in Assam

PratidinTime 2 months ago

Renowned Assamese singer Manas Robin has launched a new initiative called 'Robin Army', an app aimed at creating livelihood opportunities for unemployed youth while providing essential services to local communities across Assam.

The initiative seeks to organise young people into skilled service groups that can offer technical and maintenance support to households, businesses and public institutions. Through this effort, the programme aims to encourage self-reliance among youth while addressing everyday service needs in communities.

According to the organisers, the initiative focuses on skill-based employment rather than volunteer work. The goal is to train and connect young workers with practical trades so that they can generate income while contributing to society.

Skill-Based Services for Communities

Under the Robin Army initiative, youth will be encouraged to learn and provide services in various technical fields, including electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, painting and general home maintenance.

Electricians associated with the initiative will handle tasks such as wiring work, lighting installations, switchboard repairs and electrical safety checks. Plumbing services will include fixing leaks, pipe installation, water system repairs and sanitation maintenance.

Similarly, carpentry workers will assist with furniture repairs, door and window installations and other woodwork-related services. Painting and renovation work, including wall finishing and house painting, will also be offered through the network. In addition, the initiative plans to provide support for minor household repairs and community infrastructure maintenance.

Focus on Youth Empowerment

Speaking about the initiative, Manas Robin said the programme aims to encourage young people to build livelihoods through practical skills instead of waiting for government jobs.

The initiative also intends to help communities by providing access to trained local workers who can handle everyday repair and maintenance work in a reliable and affordable manner.

Plans for Expansion

Supporters of the initiative believe that Robin Army has the potential to evolve into a grassroots model for youth empowerment in Assam. By combining skill development with community service, the programme aims to create new income opportunities for young people while strengthening local economic networks.

If expanded across districts, organisers hope the initiative will develop into a statewide network of skilled youth capable of delivering professional services while contributing to the broader social and economic development of Assam.
