Assam: Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda on August 1 joined flood relief operations in Assam's Sivasagar district, where he has been assisting displaced families by serving meals and calling for wider public support.
The actor has been working at Sivasagar Railway Station, where several flood-affected families have taken shelter after being displaced by rising waters.
Hooda said he has been working alongside the humanitarian organisation Global Sikhs to provide food to those in need. According to him, the team has been preparing and distributing meals daily for the past week.
"This is the Sivasagar Railway Station, and many affected families have come here from the surrounding areas. We prepare food and bring it to them, and we have been doing this every day for the last seven days," he said.
The actor emphasised the need for compassion during such crises, stating, "Humanity is ab
ove everything else."
Hooda also praised the efforts of Global Sikhs, noting his long association with the organisation and its commitment to humanitarian work on the ground.
"I have been working with the same team, Global Sikhs, for many years, and the ground work they do is amazing," he said.
He urged people across the country to contribute in any way possible to support those affected. "I would urge everybody to contribute in whichever way they can to help people, not just here, but wherever there is a problem. As human beings, it is our duty to help our fellow human beings. That is why we are here," he added.
