In a strong protest against irregularities in Maharashtra's app-based transport sector a group of cab drivers had arranged a 'public awareness march' from Pune to Mumbai on 10th of April.
The march was scheduled to begin at 10 am from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune which had the intention to get an attention of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and demand immediate government interference.
Cab drivers have expressed their dissatisfaction claiming that app-based companies such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido are operating beyond regulatory control. They say the government has not taken action even after making promises many a times.
During the march the participating drivers interacted with citizens along the route to highlight challenges faced by both drivers and passengers.

They also raised concerns over the unregulated bike taxi services pose serious safety risks.
The protest was termed as a 'Jana Jagruti Wari' which focused to create awareness and push for reforms in the sector.
"We want the government to understand the urgency of this issue. This is not just about drivers but about public safety and fairness," one of the organisers said.

The march is expected to bring attention to the growing concerns around app-based transport services and increase pressure on the state government to introduce stricter regulations.
