Electric Vehicle Sales March 2026: Windsor EV Claims Stunning Victory in Booming Indian Market

Electric vehicle sales March 2026 witnessed unprecedented growth as India's zero-emission passenger vehicle segment registered 24,716 units, marking a robust 19.9% increase from February's 20,616 units.

This surge reflects a market energized by expiring government subsidies and mounting fuel price anxieties.

MG Windsor EV emerged as the country's bestselling electric vehicle with 4,530 units in March, representing a remarkable 74% month-on-month jump from February's 2,599 units. JSW MG Motor India achieved the strongest growth among major manufacturers, with total sales climbing 54.4% from 3,642 units to 5,623 units. The company's electric vehicle sales March 2026 performance secured a 22.8% market share, positioning it third behind Tata Motors and Mahindra.

Tata Motors retained its commanding position with 9,288 units sold, up from 7,982 in February, commanding 37.6% of the market. The Punch EV proved a standout performer, recording 2,871 units, a staggering 171% increase from February's 1,061 units. Nexon EV contributed 2,405 units, while the Harrier EV added 1,597 units to Tata's impressive tally.

Mahindra secured second place with 6,832 units, claiming 27.6% market share despite a slight dip from February's 7,168 units. The XEV 9S led Mahindra's lineup with 3,254 units, while the BE6 grew 35% to reach 1,495 units.

Maruti Suzuki's e Vitara made an impressive debut, delivering 2,254 units, up from just 870 in February, securing ninth position overall and giving the company a 9.1% market share.

March's electric vehicle sales March 2026 figures confirm India's accelerating transition toward sustainable mobility. Industry analysts attribute this momentum to expiring subsidy deadlines, aggressive manufacturer discounting, and growing environmental consciousness among buyers.
