Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa is a Hindi whodunit mystery that unfolds over one seemingly perfect anniversary party, and one brutal murder.
Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa follows 15 close friends who reunite at an old, isolated mansion to celebrate a 10th wedding anniversary. By morning, the most disliked guest, businessman Sohrab Handa, is found with his throat slit, turning a night of laughter into a locked-room investigation. With no sign of forced entry and no outsiders, every remaining guest quickly becomes a suspect.
Written and directed by Rajat Kapoor, the 2026 Hindi-language film leans into classic murder-mystery tropes while probing bruised egos, buried grievances and shifting loyalties within a long-standing friend group. The story plays out almost entirely inside the mansion, giving the film a stage-like intensity as interrogations peel back years of secrets.
Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa is led by Vinay Pathak in the title role, supported by Koel Purie, Neil Bhoopalam, Ranvir Shorey, Saurabh Shukla, Waluscha De Sousa, Sadiya Siddiqui and Chandrachoor Rai. Kapoor not only directs but also appears in the ensemble, with music by Sggar Desai and cinematography by Rafey Mehmood shaping the film's moody tone.
The crime-mystery-thriller is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Mithya Talkies and runs for about 1 hour 40 minutes. It premiered directly on ZEE5 on 10 April 2026, where it is now streaming exclusively for subscribers in India and select international markets.
Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa has drawn a mixed yet intrigued response, with critics highlighting its strong performances and textured ensemble even as some point to uneven pacing and a slow-burn approach to suspense. Early ratings range from the mid-to-upper tier on user platforms, reflecting appreciation for character work and atmosphere over jumpy twists.
As a streaming-first whodunit set in a single location, the film underlines how Indian OTT platforms are increasingly backing mid-budget, actor-driven thrillers designed to be binged in one sitting. For viewers who enjoy dialogue-heavy mysteries, Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa offers a contained but layered look at friendship, guilt and the cost of long-nursed resentments.
