Question papers of Marathi, Maths and English allegedly circulated before exams, raising concerns over system security
A major issue in the school examination system has surfaced in Pune after question papers of the Periodic Assessment Test (PAT) were allegedly leaked on social media before the exams were conducted.
Police have registered cases against six educational YouTube channels in connection with the incident.
The leaked papers included Marathi, Maths, and English exams for students across Maharashtra. The exams were supposed to be held on April 11, 15, and 22.
But the same question papers were already being shared online before these dates, which raised serious concerns.
The exams are conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) to examine the academic progress of school students, making the issue a serious concern for the education system.
After the paper leak, Dr. Manisha Tathe from SCERT filed a complaint at Vishrambaug Police Station. Based on this, police registered a case under the exam malpractice law and the IT Act.
Officials said the papers are usually printed secretly at a private press and then sent across the state. Even with these precautions, the leak has raised doubts about where the mistake happened-during printing or distribution.
Police Inspector Arun Ghodke and the cyber team are now investigating the case. They are trying to find out how the papers were leaked and whether more people are involved.
This incident has triggered concerns among parents and educators, with many demanding strict action against those who are responsible. Authorities said ensuring the integrity of examinations is critical, especially when lakhs of students depend on the assessment system.
