Four Arrested In Pune After Live-In Partner Dies By Suicide; Extortion Allegations Surface

Four people, including a woman, have been arrested in Pune after a 28-year-old man had allegedly died by suicide following sustained mental harassment and repeated demands for money.

The incident came to light in the Kharadi area where the victim was found dead after taking the extreme step. Based on a complaint filed by his family, Kharadi Police have registered a case for abetment to suicide and arrested the accused.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Karan Balasaheb Kamble. He was in a live-in relationship with a woman for some time. Investigators said the relationship later became strained and the victim had allegedly faced repeated demands for money.

Family members have claimed that Karan was subjected to continuous mental pressure and threats, which affected his well-being and day to day life.

After the initial inquiries, police arrested four people in connection with the case, including the woman who was reportedly in the relationship with the deceased.

Police said Karan and the woman had become familiar several years ago, and their friendship later developed into a relationship. The couple reportedly lived together in the Kharadi area.

Investigators have learned that the woman had been married twice earlier and was living separately after the disputes in her previous marriages.

Authorities are now examining the nature of their relationship, financial transactions and communication records as part of the inquiry.

A case was registered after Karan's brother approached Kharadi Police and alleged that the accused had harassed the victim and repeatedly pressured him for money.

Based on the complaint, police booked the accused under relevant provisions related to abetment to suicide and other applicable offences.

Police officials said statements of family members and other witnesses are being recorded. Digital evidence and financial records are also being examined to understand the circumstances that led to the incident.

Further investigation is going on.
