iPhone 18 Pro colours shock: bold upgrade, classic black missing

Pune Times Mirror 3 weeks ago

IPhone 18 Pro colours are once again at the centre of Apple leak chatter, and black fans may not like what they are hearing.

A Weibo tipster known as Instant Digital claims Apple has cancelled a classic black option for the iPhone 18 Pro range, mirroring last year's iPhone 17 Pro decision.

Instead, the iPhone 18 Pro colours are expected to include new Coffee, Purple and Burgundy or wine-red finishes, with no traditional black or plain white in sight. The move follows the iPhone 17 Pro lineup, which shipped in Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue and Silver and still managed strong sales, particularly in China, where the orange model reportedly helped Apple hit record iPhone numbers.

Beyond iPhone 18 Pro colours, Apple is also tipped to refine the front design rather than remove the Dynamic Island. Leaked measurements from reported screen protectors suggest the pill-shaped cutout could shrink from roughly 20.76mm on current Pro models to about 13.49mm, freeing up more usable display area. The standard iPhone 18 is expected to keep its existing Dynamic Island size, with changes reserved for the Pro line.

Under the hood, leaks suggest the iPhone 18 Pro models will debut Apple's A20 Pro chip, built on TSMC's 2nm process for higher performance and better efficiency than the 3nm A19 Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumoured to pack Apple's largest battery yet at roughly 5,100-5,200mAh, while other variants are also expected to exceed 5,000mAh, promising a major jump in endurance. Apple is also said to be pairing the chip with its in-house C2 5G modem and upgraded cameras featuring a larger aperture.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro series in September 2026, keeping to its usual autumn launch window, with a foldable iPhone model tipped to follow around a month later. If the iPhone 18 Pro colours leak holds, loyalists who prefer a discreet black finish may feel sidelined for a second year running, even as Apple doubles down on bold, more fashion-driven shades. For many buyers, though, longer battery life, a slimmer Dynamic Island and camera upgrades may ultimately matter more than the absence of black when upgrade season arrives.
