Authorities have asked the tourists to take precaution while visiting the popular hill fort as the monsoon intensifies.

According to officials, three to four large boulders and debris fell onto the stone steps that leads to the fort's main gate. This incident came to light during a routine morning inspection by security personnel of the Forest Conservation Committee. Although the exact time of the landslide is yet to be determined, officials confirmed that it likely occurred overnight after a persistent heavy rainfall in the area.

Pandurang Supekar, Chairman of the Forest Conservation Committee, said the affected area was immediately inspected and documented after the debris was discovered. Fortunately, no tourists or staff were present at the spot when the rocks fell, and no injuries were reported.

This latest incident comes just days after a minor landslide on the Sinhagad Ghat road that temporarily disrupted the traffic. Loose soil and rocks had spilled onto the roadway, but the obstruction was cleared promptly using earthmoving equipment that allowed the traffic to resume without major delays.

As heavy rain is continuing across Pune district and the Western Ghats, officials have warned that the risk of further landslides remains high in hilly areas. Visitors have been advised to avoid roaming onto the vulnerable sections of the fort during such periods of intense rainfall and to strictly follow instructions that are issued by local authorities.

The administration is closely monitoring the situation and has appealed to trekkers and tourists to prioritise safety while planning visits to Sinhagad and other hill destinations during the ongoing monsoon season.
