The investigation into the alleged murder of realtor Ketan Agrawal has opened a new news as the Pune Rural Police are investigating whether a third person had prior knowledge of the alleged murder plot involving the two arrested accused.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, police are examining the role of a man who is believed to be a former classmate of co-accused Chetan Choudhary. The individual is a native of Beed district who is currently employed with a private company in Balewadi, has come under the scanner after investigators received few inputs suggesting that he may have been aware of this alleged conspiracy before the crime took place.
Sources claim that Chetan and co-accused Siya Goyal had allegedly discussed their plan to kill Ketan with the man and had even asked him to accompany them to Lohagad Fort on June 18, the day Agrawal died after allegedly being pushed into a gorge. However, the man is said to have declined the invitation.
Investigators are also looking into claims that he had advised the accused against carrying out the alleged plan. Police are now trying to understand the exact information he had possessed, whether he remained in contact with the accused before or after the incident, and whether he informed anyone about this alleged plot.
The man's interactions with the accused after the incident have also become a focus of the inquiry. According to sources, Chetan allegedly met him soon after Ketan's death and Siya is also believed to have contacted him.
To verify these claims, investigators are analysing call detail records, digital chats and other electronic evidence. Officials are attempting to determine whether the man was just aware of the alleged conspiracy or if his role extended beyond a prior knowledge.
Police have not named the individual or confirmed any criminal involvement so far. Officials are maintaining that the investigation is ongoing and that all leads are being verified before any conclusions are made.
