The investigation into the alleged murder of realtor Ketan Agrawal has uncovered another crucial lead as the Pune Rural Police has taken the prime accused Siya Goyal to a location in the city where investigators believe the murder was rehearsed days before it was allegedly carried out at Lohagad Fort.
According to police, Goyal was taken to an open ground near a club in Lullanagar on Thursday morning as a part of the ongoing investigation. During the spot inspection, she allegedly identified the place where she and co-accused Chetan Choudhary had practised the act of pushing a person from behind as the investigators said.
Police suspect that the rehearsal was conducted to execute the plan without raising any suspicion during the trek to Lohagad Fort on June 18, where 25-year-old Agrawal was allegedly pushed into a deep gorge.
Investigators also carried out a search at Goyal's residence in Pune's Market Yard area. During the search, police seized the clothes she is believed to have worn on the day of the incident. The garments will now be sent for forensic examination to determine whether they contain any material evidence relevant to the case.
Agrawal who was a Pune-based realtor, was engaged to Goyal, and the couple was scheduled to marry in November. The incident was initially believed to be an accidental fall during a trek, but the investigation later took a dramatic turn after police alleged that Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Choudhary, had conspired to kill him.
Both the accused are currently in police custody until July 3, and investigators are continuing to examine digital evidence, reconstruct crime events and verify the planning that allegedly preceded the murder.
Police believe that the latest recovery and the alleged rehearsal site could provide further evidence to support the prosecution's case. The investigation remains in process as the officials are investigating every aspect of the alleged conspiracy.
