A man from Indapur is been accused of cheating three individuals for ₹43 lakh in the pretext of a promise to offer them government jobs.
The Sant Tukaramnagar police have immediatedly launched a search in this case.
According to police officials, under the name of securing them jobs in government departments, the accused reportedly took money from a pharmacist and two of his relatives between September 2024 and October 2025.
The complainant who is a pharmacist residing in Pimpri has lodged a complaint on Saturday after failing to recover the money or secure the promised jobs.
Police further said the accused was knowing the pharmacist and had visited his residence in September 2024. During the meeting, he claimed that he had strong contacts within the state government and assured the pharmacist that the position as a senior inspector in the social welfare department will be allotted to him. He also promised jobs in the Nagpur prison department for the pharmacist's nephew and another relative.
Trusting his claims, the trio collectively paid ₹43 lakh to the accused. But despite repeated follow-ups he neither provided jobs nor the money returned.
Upon realising they had been cheated, the victims approached the Sant Tukaram nagar police, who have registered a case and have began a search operation to trace the accused.
Police officials said that the further investigation is going on.
