Mayor Upset Over Airport Pass Delay, Seeks Action Against PMC PRO

Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure has expressed her dislike after she was unable to attend the reception of Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule at the airport due to the absence of an official entry pass.

The incident has initiated discussions within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) with reports suggesting that the Mayor has urged to the Municipal Commissioner asking to take action against the concerned official.

As the city's first citizen, the Mayor generally attends the airport reception of visiting ministers. However, the required airport entry pass had not been issued in time which stopped Nagpure from being present their during the minister's visit on Monday.

The Mayor's office had reportedly instructed the acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) to arrange the pass, but due to procedural delays, the pass could not be obtained.

This has led to a confusion over who was responsible? the PRO or the municipal secretariat.

Officials said that:

Currently, the post of protocol officer is vacant and no additional charge has been assigned which has made the administrative problem worse.

Acting PRO Yogesh Hendre said that the process to obtain the pass had been initiated after receiving the instructions from the Mayor's office.

He further added that efforts are underway to issue a three-year airport pass at the earliest in coordination with the concerned authorities.

The incident has raised questions about internal coordination and responsibility within the civic administration, especially following the return of elected representatives after a long administrative period.
