Nobody wants war

World should unite to end W Asia conflict

The drone attack targeting the Barakah nuclear facility in the UAE marks a dangerous escalation in the West Asia conflict.

The Gulf Arab state said it is yet to be established who fired three drones, one of which hit the nuclear plant. Close on the heels of the attack, US President Donald Trump warned Iran the "clock is ticking" as talks to end the war have stalled. "They better get moving, FAST, or there won't be anything left of them," he wrote on his Truth Social platform. "TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!"
More than five weeks after a ceasefire in the war came into effect, the US and Iranian demands remain far apart despite diplomatic efforts to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz-the world's most important shipping route for oil and gas.

Washington has called for Tehran to dismantle its nuclear programme and lift its hold on the strait. Iran has demanded compensation for war damage, an end to the US blockade of Iranian ports and a halt to fighting on all fronts, including in Lebanon, where Israel is battling Iran-backed Hezbollah.
Iran's Mehr News agency quoted sources as saying that the Islamic Republic has formally conditioned the start of any negotiations with the US on fulfilling a set of confidence-building measures.
However, the US "responded with excessive demands…seeking concessions it failed to obtain through military means." The US offered Iran "nothing tangible in return," sources were quoted as saying.
The latest developments in West Asia have come as a warning bell for the rest of the world, including India. The warring factions, especially the US and Israel, appear least bothered about the conflict's impact on the economies of the rest of the world.

Trump's latest remarks that "they (Iran) better get moving, or there won't be anything left of them" and his previous threat to the Islamic Republic that the "whole civilisation will be wiped out" are nothing short of a declaration of genocide. The US has already been condemned by many countries for its support to Israel in the war against Palestinians in Gaza.

The US vetoing UN resolutions to end Israel's 'genocide' in Gaza and openly issuing threats to wipe out Iran only indicate that America does not care about international laws. Questions are being raised about whether America has conveniently undermined the UN, which was formed to rein in rogue countries.
The current scenario in West Asia calls for a united front by nations bearing the brunt of the conflict and force the warring parties to explore diplomatic channels and give peace a chance. After all, why should the entire world be made to pay the price for the madness of a few countries?
