One Piece Season 3 is now firmly on the horizon, and One Piece Season 3 looks set to be the show's most ambitious chapter yet.

Netflix has renewed the live-action One Piece for Season 3, with the streamer confirming a 2027 launch window for the new episodes.

Production on One Piece Season 3 is already underway in Cape Town, South Africa, following an early green light in 2025. Filming reportedly began in late 2025 and is expected to run well into 2026, with the heavy CGI and complex stunt work pushing post-production into 2027.

One Piece Season 3 will adapt the fan-favourite Battle of Alabasta arc from Eiichiro Oda's manga and anime, taking Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates into the desert kingdom of Alabasta. There, Princess Nefertari Vivi seeks their help as rebellion and civil war threaten to tear her country apart from within. The main antagonist will be Sir Crocodile, the powerful pirate and Baroque Works mastermind secretly fuelling the conflict. Co-showrunners Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes have described the Alabasta saga as "one of the best-loved stories" in One Piece and promised a war story that is "epic and emotional, spectacular and surprising."

Alongside returning core cast members, One Piece Season 3 will introduce key manga favourites. Xolo Maridueña, known from Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle, has been cast as Portgas D. Ace, the fiery "Fire Fist" pirate and beloved older-brother figure to Luffy. Cole Escola will play Bon Clay (Mr 2), the flamboyant theatrical assassin whose shape-shifting abilities and larger-than-life personality are set to add both humour and heart to the new season.

With Season 3 heading for a 2027 release, the series is moving quickly to build on its breakout success and tackle one of the franchise's most iconic storylines. A sprawling desert war, higher emotional stakes and the arrival of Ace and Bon Clay suggest a season designed to satisfy long-time fans while keeping new viewers hooked. If Netflix can deliver on the promise of Alabasta, One Piece Season 3 could be the live-action show's defining voyage.
