After recent administrative changes Additional Commissioner of Pune municipal corporation (PMC) Mr Prithviraj B.P. is being transferred and appointed as Municipal Commissioner of Vasai-Virar.

Due to his immediate transfer a vacancy has been created in the civic body that has taken over a discussion about who will fill the key post.

The PMC has three positions for additional commissioner out of which two are typically reserved for Indian Administrative Service Officer (IAS). While the other ki post is filled through promotion from within the Municipal Administration. Currently IAS officer Pavneet Kaur and State administrative service officer OmPrakash Divte as serving as additional commissioner on the positions. However, this changes has gained the attention as to fill the vacant position by promoting any administrative person within the municipal corporation or by appointing a new IAS officer; The decision is yet to be disclosed.

Prithviraj B.P. is a 2014 batch IAS officer originally belonging from Rajasthan. He was appointed as PMC's Additional Commissioner on 20th March 2024. Before his tenure in Pune was about to start he has served as the District Collector of Latur and as an Chief Executive Officer of Nagpur smart city.

During his work at PMC he has handled several crucial departments including property tax, project management, solid waste management, motor vehicles, construction and electrical services

His transfer has marked a remarkable change in PMC administrative setup.
