Early morning accident adds to rising concerns over road safety in Pune
Two women were seriously injured after a speeding PMPML bus rammed into a two-wheeler on Bajirao Road early Thursday morning, marking yet another major road accident in the city.
The injured have been identified as Anuradha Patki and Suchitra Patki, who sustained severe injuries in the crash that occurred around 6:30 am.
The bus was going from Tilak Road towards Swargate when a two-wheeler suddenly came in front of it.
To avoid hitting, the driver turned the bus to the left, but it hit another two-wheeler coming from the opposite side.
The collision was so severe that it threw both women off the vehicle, and they were badly injured.
People nearby quickly came to help and called an ambulance.
The injured women were taken to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital for treatment.
Police from Swargate reached the spot quickly and detained the bus driver, Kachare.
They have started a detailed investigation of the accident.
This is the third major bus accident in Pune in the last month, raising concerns about road safety.
Earlier, a bus had crashed into a shop on Bajirao Road and also followed by another accident near Goodluck Chowk in Deccan.
Citizens have expressed their concern over repeated accidents involving public transport and demanded a stricter safety measures.
