The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has launched a large-scale rescue and relief operations across the Pune Metropolitan Region after the relentless rainfall that has caused flooding, landslides and waterlogging in several areas.
Teams from the PMRDA Disaster Response Force (PDRF) and the Fire Department have been deployed round the clock to respond to emergency calls and assist stranded residents.
In the Maval-Lonavala-Talegaon belt, rescue teams were rushed to Patan Boraj Road after reports that four people were trapped when a landslide struck a house. Separate operations are in process in Malavli and Patan village, where residents have been stranded due to landslides and floodwaters that is entering homes. Joint teams of the PDRF and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are carrying out search and rescue operations in the affected areas.
At HUDCO Colony and Vedanta Academy in Lonavala, emergency teams are coordinating with local authorities to assess the situation and provide assistance. In Aptegaon near Pawna Lake, rescue personnel have been deployed after reports that around 20 to 30 people were stranded after a landslide happened.
Another major rescue operation is underway near Boravali Station and the Skoda Company in Talegaon Dabhade, where officials are working to evacuate passengers those are trapped inside a waterlogged bus along with other stranded citizens.
In the Hinjawadi-Marunji region, emergency teams have been sent to Kasar Sai after floodwater entered several houses. At Mantra 24 West Society in Marunji, fire personnel are pumping out water from the basement and assisting residents.
Flood-related emergencies have also been reported from Chakan, Alandi and Dehu. Rescue teams are helping to evacuate workers those are trapped inside a company near Chimbli Phata after floodwater entered the premises. In Dhanore village near Alandi, firefighters have cleared a tree that had collapsed on a road during heavy rain and precautionary measures have been strengthened in Alandi and other vulnerable areas. In Dehu, residents are being shifted to safer locations as floodwaters have entered residential neighbourhoods.
PMRDA has appealed to citizens not to believe rumours those are circulating on social media and to rely only on official updates issued by the administration. Residents have been urged to follow all safety advisories and avoid venturing into flooded or landslide-prone areas.
Officials said trained PDRF and Fire Department personnel remain on high alert and are prepared to respond to emergencies throughout the ongoing spell of heavy rainfall.
