The action came after residents of the area flooded the police station with complaints, saying the roar of the modified exhausts was loud enough to jolt children and elderly residents awake at night. The riders had been spotted moving in groups through Undri, Mohammadwadi, Kadnagar Chowk, Nyati Chowk and Raheja Vista Chowk, turning quiet neighbourhood streets into a source of nightly disturbance.

Once the complaints came in, a police team swung into action under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Girisha Nimbalkar and Police Inspector Annaso Babar. Investigators relied on a mix of technical tracking and tip-offs from informants to identify the riders behind the noise, eventually zeroing in on the group responsible.

Cases have now been registered against fourteen individuals, Sumeet Sagat, Shivam Jadhav, Aryan Gaikwad, Sarthak Alhat, Raj Randive, Tushar Gaikwad, Dheeraj Genjge, Ayan Shaikh, Prem Gaikwad, Dayanand Sutar, Varad Todkar, Dinesh Lambote, Rajendra Waghmode and Ravi Lokhande. Police did not stop at the riders alone, three garage owners, Yusuf Shaikh, Nikhil Sarde and Rohan Mahapure, have also been booked for fitting the illegal silencers onto the vehicles in the first place.

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner of Police Jeevan Benival, police physically removed and destroyed the offending silencers from all seized bikes, ensuring the modified parts could not simply be reattached later. The accused have been charged under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Kalepadal police said the crackdown is not a one-off exercise. Teams are continuing to keep watch across the jurisdiction, with officers stating that action will follow against any other motorists found flouting traffic and noise norms in the same manner.
