Pune to Fix 120 Waterlogging Spots Before Monsoon: Mayor Announces Action Plan

Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure has announced that the civic body will complete complete all the work at 120 major water logging spots before June 2026 as a part of larger plan to address flooding across the city.

This decision has made after a heavy and seasonal rains that led to waterlogging in several areas, homes got flooded and reportedly trees got collapsed..

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has identified 227 locations prone to waterlogging, which will be divided into 3 categories based on priority.

Out of these, 120 locations will be fixed before the monsoon, with work set to begin from Monday.

The administration I will conduct a survey of illegal constructions along nullahs and streams which are seen as a major reason for poor drainage.
Action will be taken against those encroachments after the survey is completed, officials said.

Following thursday's heavy rain where the city recorded 104 mm of rainfall within an hour the Mayor called an emergency review meeting with senior officials including municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram.
Officials from engineering disaster management and project departments were also present to discuss the situation.
