Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 crease delivers stunning upgrade to rival Oppo

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 crease delivers stunning upgrade to rival Oppo

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 crease improvements are shaping up to be one of the headline changes in Samsung's next-generation foldable line-up.

A new leak from well-known tipster Ice Universe suggests the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 series will offer crease control "just as impressive" as the Oppo Find N6, a device marketed as having a "zero-feel crease."
The Oppo Find N6 uses a redesigned waterdrop-style hinge, titanium alloy components and so-called Flex Glass, with TÜV Rheinland tests indicating up to an 82% reduction in long-term crease depth compared with its predecessor.

According to the same source, Samsung has also quietly changed its naming scheme: the original Galaxy Z Fold8 has reportedly been rebranded as the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, while the wider variant previously tipped as "Fold8 Wide" is now expected to launch as the standard Galaxy Z Fold8.
Both book-style foldables are said to adopt the improved crease technology, narrowing the visual gap with Oppo's hinge design and addressing one of the main complaints users have had about earlier Galaxy Z Fold models.

Multiple reports point to Samsung unveiling the Galaxy Z Fold8 family at a Galaxy Unpacked event in London on 22 July 2026, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip8 and possibly other devices.
Earlier rumours suggested the Fold8 series would miss out on the Galaxy S26 Ultra's Privacy Screen feature, while S Pen support appears to be in flux, with some sources expecting pen input on at least one Fold8 variant and others cautioning that it may arrive later or not at all.

If the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 crease really does approach the Oppo Find N6's near-flat finish, it could significantly improve everyday usability and help Samsung defend its early lead in the premium foldable segment.
Ultimately, the true impact of the crease upgrade and whether it justifies the expected flagship pricing will only become clear once Samsung formally launches the Fold8 series and reviewers get extended hands-on time with retail units.
