Sarvam AI Chanakya is built to run on-premise and even in fully air-gapped setups, where systems stay isolated from external networks to reduce cyber risk. This architecture targets organisations handling confidential or national-security-related data, where privacy, reliability and control are non-negotiable. The company describes Chanakya as a full-stack AI solution for "problems of national consequence and complex enterprises", after testing its stack across real-world scenarios over the past year.

Beyond basic models, Sarvam AI Chanakya can process multiple data formats, including text and images, and drive what Sarvam calls "production-grade agentic workflows". In practice, that means AI systems which can independently execute complex, multi-step tasks in live environments, with limited human intervention but high expectations of uptime and accuracy. Sarvam says the same technology is suited for dual-use deployments, spanning both commercial enterprise applications and strategic sectors tied to national priorities such as defence and critical infrastructure.

The launch of Sarvam AI Chanakya comes with a hiring drive across engineering, machine learning, product, security and delivery roles, aimed at scaling this new vertical. Sarvam, which has already announced homegrown models like Sarvam-30B and Sarvam-105B supporting 22 Indian languages, positions Chanakya as part of a broader sovereign AI strategy built and operated entirely in India. If the platform delivers on its promises in high-stakes deployments, Sarvam AI Chanakya could become a key piece of India's secure AI infrastructure for years to come.
