Tecno Pop X Powerful Debut Delights Budget Buyers in India

Tecno Pop X Powerful Debut Delights Budget Buyers in India

Pune Times Mirror 3 months ago

Tecno Pop X arrives in India as an affordable smartphone that tries to pack in a bit more than the usual basics.

Tecno Pop X price in India is set at Rs. 8,499 for the lone 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant.

The phone will be available in Chilly Green and Flare White colour options. It goes on sale from 6 March via Amazon and other retail channels, with an introductory effective price of Rs. 7,749 for buyers using eligible HDFC Bank cards.

Tecno Pop X features a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a 720×1,600-pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, unusual in this segment and aimed at smoother scrolling and animations. The phone carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, and Tecno says it has undergone extensive drop testing for added durability. The handset weighs about 182.6g and measures 167.79×77.97×8.18mm, making it relatively manageable for a large-screen budget device.

Tecno Pop X is powered by a 12nm Unisoc T7250 octa-core processor paired with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage, with support for microSD expansion. It runs HiOS 15 based on Android 15, and includes Tecno's Ella AI assistant with regional language support. A standout "No Network Communication" feature allows offline calls and messages with nearby Tecno Pop X users within roughly 1.5km, useful in low-signal or emergency scenarios. Connectivity options include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, USB Type-C, an IR transmitter for controlling appliances, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, along with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Tecno Pop X offers a single 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.85 aperture and dual-LED flash, while an 8-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls. The phone is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 15W charging, and Tecno includes a 10W charger in the box.

Tecno Pop X tries to raise the bar for entry-level phones by combining a 120Hz display, IP64 rating, offline calling and a sizeable 5,000mAh battery at under Rs. 9,000. On paper, it looks tailored for first-time smartphone users and budget-conscious buyers who still want modern touches such as Android 15, regional AI assistance and an IR remote. The real test will be how consistently it performs in daily use, but Tecno is clearly betting that these headline features will give the Tecno Pop X an edge in India's crowded entry-level market.
