WhatsApp You Tab iOS is slowly reshaping how iPhone users see their identity inside the messaging app.

WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new You tab on iOS, replacing the familiar Settings gear with a profile-first space that puts the user's photo and account details front and centre in the bottom navigation bar.

Instead of a generic icon, iPhone owners now see their own profile picture, making it easier to recognise which account is active at a glance, especially for those juggling personal and work numbers.

Tapping the You tab opens a dedicated profile hub where users can review personal information, manage privacy and security controls, and access core options such as chats, storage and notifications, which largely mirror the previous Settings layout. The redesign is part of the latest WhatsApp for iOS builds currently available on the App Store, but the company is rolling it out in phases, so many users will not see the change immediately.

The WhatsApp You Tab iOS experience ties in with the app's gradual introduction of multi-account support on iPhone, allowing some users to add a second account in the same app with separate chats, backups and notification preferences. Notifications clearly show which account has received a new message, helping reduce confusion when switching between profiles on a single device.

WhatsApp is also testing a refreshed profile page that adds a large header-style cover photo above the usual profile picture, similar to layouts seen on Facebook or LinkedIn. For now, iOS beta builds show a default image and cover photos cannot yet be customised, but ongoing development suggests users will eventually be able to choose their own banners and control who can see them through new privacy options.
