Biman Bangladesh Airlines Orders Boeing Aircraft For Fleet Expansion
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed an order with Boeing for 14 aircraft, including 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX jets, as part of its plans to expand and update its fleet.
The order includes eight 787-10 aircraft, two 787-9 aircraft, and four 737-8 aircraft. This marks the airline's first order for both the 787-10 variant and the 737 MAX family.
Biman Bangladesh Expands Fleet With Boeing 787 And 737 MAX
The 787-10 aircraft are expected to be deployed on routes connecting Bangladesh with destinations in the Middle East, while the 787-9 aircraft will support long-haul services to Europe and North America. The 737-8 aircraft are intended for regional routes across the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia.
According to Kaizer Sohel Ahmed, Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the addition of these aircraft will support fleet modernisation, operational efficiency, and network expansion.
The airline currently operates a fleet of Boeing aircraft, including 787-8, 787-9, 777, and Next-Generation 737 models, across its international network.
Paul Righi, Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Eurasia, India and South Asia at Boeing, said the order builds on the existing partnership between the two organisations and supports the airline's growth plans.
The 787 and 737 MAX aircraft families are designed to reduce fuel consumption and support airline operations across both long-haul and regional routes.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines operates flights from Dhaka to 22 international destinations across the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and Europe.
