British Airways Partners with Audible for Onboard Audio Content

Safari India 2 weeks ago

British Airways has partnered with Audible to introduce spoken-word entertainment across its long-haul flights, adding audiobooks and podcasts to its in-flight offering.

More than 250 hours of content are now available free of charge through the airline's in-flight entertainment system. The selection includes a mix of genres such as fiction, romance, children's content and podcasts, with a focus on titles featuring British authors and performers.

Introduction of audio content onboard

The collaboration marks the first time Audible content has been made available on a UK airline. Passengers can access a curated catalogue that includes titles such as Harry Potter full-cast audio editions, Pride and Prejudice, The Little Mermaid, Ghost Stories: Stephen Fry's Definitive Collection, and Hot White Heist.

The move reflects increasing demand for audio-based entertainment, including audiobooks and podcasts, particularly among travellers seeking alternative content formats during flights.

Enhancing the onboard experience

The addition of spoken-word content forms part of British Airways' broader efforts to expand its in-flight entertainment portfolio. Since early 2025, the airline has added thousands of new titles across its system, including films, television and audio content.

The airline has also been working with Anuvu to upgrade its onboard entertainment experience, aiming to offer a wider range of global and independent content.

The partnership aligns with broader trends in media consumption, with audiobook and podcast listenership continuing to grow in the UK. Audio formats are increasingly being integrated into travel experiences, providing passengers with more flexible and personalised entertainment options.

 Hamish McVey

Hamish McVey, Director of Marketing, British Airways, said: "Spoken-word entertainment has surged in popularity over the past few years, and our collaboration with Audible brings an exciting new chapter to our in-flight entertainment offering.

"This collaboration introduces millions of customers to endless new content from leading authors and podcasters, with more than a quarter of the collection celebrating exceptional British talent. From gripping fiction and family favourites to wellbeing podcasts, we hope everyone finds something they'll love during their flight."

 Tom McKenna

Tom McKenna, Audible's Global Head of Media, Ops & Business Development, said: "We're thrilled to bring Audible's premium audio storytelling to British Airways customers, making it easier than ever for passengers to turn travel time into an enriching audio experience."

"With a slate of award-winning titles, family favourites, and distinctly British content, we're continuing to innovate on how listeners experience outstanding spoken word entertainment -whether they're revisiting a beloved story or discovering their next great listen."
