Death of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (1680):
On 3rd April 1680, the founder of the Maratha Empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, passed away at the Raigad Fort.
He is revered as a brave warrior who challenged Mughal rule and established "Hindavi Swarajya".
14th SAARC Conference (2007):
The 14th SAARC conference began in New Delhi. The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was established when its Charter was formally adopted on December 8, 1985 by the Heads of State or Government of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay (1903):
An influential social reformer and freedom fighter, she played a crucial role in the Indian independence movement and the renaissance of Indian handicrafts.
Swaminarayan (1781):
The yogi and ascetic whose teachings formed the central focus of the Swaminarayan Sampraday was born on this day. In 1800, he was initiated into the Uddhava sampradaya by his guru, Swami Ramanand, and was given the name Sahajanand Swami.
Nizamuddin Auliya (1325):
The prominent Sufi saint of the Chisti Order passed away in Delhi on this date. Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, born in 1238 in Badayun, Uttar Pradesh. He was one of the most prominent Sufi saints of the Chishti Order. Renowned for his teachings of love, humility, and devotion, he emphasized service to humanity regardless of religion, caste, or creed.
Establishment of MCL (1992):
Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, a major subsidiary of Coal India Limited, was officially formed. CIL started functioning in 1975 with 5 subsidiary companies under it. These were Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), and Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL).
Birth of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw (1914):
Born in Amritsar, Sam Manekshaw led India to victory in the 1971 war and became the nation's first Field Marshal in 1973 and highest rank in the Indian Army. He remained as one of India's best-known soldiers and military leaders.
Launch of INSAT-2E (1999):
INSAT-2E satellite was launched providing multipurpose communication and meteorological services. Launched by Arianespace, using an Ariane 42P carrier rocket flying from ELA-2 at the Guiana Space Centre.
