Candidates who want to become teachers in schools across Kerala can check the details and apply through the official website KTET Official Portal.
The KTET exam is conducted twice every year to check the eligibility of candidates who wish to work as teachers in government and aided schools. The notification for the February 2026 session is out, but the exact exam dates will be announced soon on the official website.
The exam will be conducted in offline (pen and paper) mode and the KTET certificate will be valid for a lifetime.
The exam is conducted in four categories, based on the level of teaching:
- Category 1: For teachers of Classes 1 to 5 (Lower Primary)
- Category 2: For teachers of Classes 6 to 8 (Upper Primary)
- Category 3: For teachers of Classes 9 and 10 (High School)
- Category 4: For language teachers, physical education teachers and other specialist teachers
The KTET exam will have 150 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries one mark, and there is no negative marking. Candidates will get 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the exam.
To apply, candidates must meet the required educational qualifications, which include Higher Secondary, graduation, and teaching qualifications such as Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed, depending on the category.
