From Mohun Bagan Youth to Guwahati League: The Rising Journey of Versatile Indian Footballer Mahroos Siddiquee Nadim
Dateline: KOLKATA / GUWAHATI
In a country where football is rapidly evolving, young and versatile talents are constantly pushing through regional barriers to make a mark on the national stage. Among the emerging names in Indian football, Mahroos Siddiquee Nadim, a 24-year-old dual-footed midfielder and full-back from Pujali, West Bengal, stands out as a testament to grassroots perseverance.
Born on December 25, 2001, Mahroos began his footballing journey in the youth ranks of the iconic Mohun Bagan AC, where he honed his skills between 2014 and 2017, competing in the IFA Nursery League and the U-15 & U-17 I-Leagues.
His early tactical maturity and agility on the ball quickly caught the eyes of scouts, leading to a trialist spot for FC Pune City’s U-17 squad in the Indian Super League (ISL) Academy in 2018.
Mahroos’s career is defined by his ability to adapt across various tiers of Indian football. He represented Albert Sporting Club in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) 3rd Division during the 2018-2019 season. Seeking further development, he joined the Minerva Academy for the 2019-2020 season, where his standout performances earned him the prestigious "Best Performer Award" from the academy.
In the subsequent years, Mahroos shifted his base to Northeast India, significantly impacting the Guwahati Football League. He played a pivotal role as a specialist right full-back for Rajbari Athletic Club during the 2022-2023 season, helping the team secure the runners-up position in the league. His defensive masterclasses and high work rate down the flanks earned him local acclaim as one of the breakout defenders of the tournament. Most recently, he extended his regional footprint by representing the Assam Dynamo Club during the 2024-2025 season.
Beyond his domestic exploits, Mahroos has also had exposure on the international radar, having received training invitations and selection nods for exposures like the senior team of FC Struga in Macedonia and the Sheffield United FC U-21 reserve pool in 2021.
Standing at 176 cm, the versatile central midfielder—who comfortably doubles as a defensive midfielder and a modern right full-back—is currently a free agent. Known for his game intelligence, dual-footed precision, and mentorship activities for younger athletes, Mahroos Siddiquee Nadim remains a highly promising talent looking for his next big challenge in top-flight Indian football clubs.
