Karachi (Pakistan) - The idols of Hindu Deities on the walls of a historical building have been vandalised and beheaded. The minority Hindus are enraged over the incident. The Pakistani rulers have, however, kept mum on this occurrence. No action has been taken by the Police so far.
On his 'X' account, Shiva Kachhi, the Chairman of the organisation for the protection of minorities' rights in Bahawalpur district of Punjab Province has posted that
1. Denigration of idols of Bhagwan Shrikrushna and 'Gopis' on a historical building viz. 'Sagan Mason' is the most condemnable. It is not just damage caused to a building but it is an attack on Pakistan's multiculture heritage, religious tolerance and sentiments of minority community. It is necessary to strongly condemn such shameful incidents.
2. This building located on M A Jinnah Road was built in 1937 and has been a rich presence of Hindu religious symbols. Damaging the heads of the idols of Bhagwan Shrikrushna and Gopi is not only insult of religion but it is a loss to a public heritage. The concerned officers must take immediate note of the occurrence, promptly arrest the guilty and severely punish them. He also demanded that the historical building should be immediately restored and provided security.
Editorial Perspective Considering the situation in Pakistan, it is surprising that the idols were safe all these years. For Hindus across the world, such incidents are quite shameful. |
