New Delhi - A major agreement aimed at strengthening defence cooperation between India and Russia has now come into effect. Under the pact, both countries are permitted to deploy a limited number of their military assets within each other's territories.
This includes up to 3,000 troops, 10 fighter aircraft, and 5 warships at any given time.
The arrangement will initially remain in force for five years and may be extended for an additional five-year period with mutual consent.
Signed in February 2025, the agreement, known as the Indo-Russian Reciprocal Exchange of Logistics Agreement, officially came into force on 12 January this year.
