On the occasion of Adhikmas, earn spiritual benefits as well by donating for food to Sanatan Ashrams that are engaged in the propagation of Dharma

An opportunity for devotees to participate in Annadan

The period from 17th May to 15th June 2026 is observed as Adhikmas (also known as Malamas - Intercalary month of the Hindu lunar calendar).

During this period, spiritual practices such as chanting God's Name, attending satsangs, performing satseva (Service unto the Absolute Truth), sacrifice, and donation are considered especially significant. Donations made during this period are believed to yield manifold benefits.

1. The uniqueness of Annadan

Offering food (Annadan) is regarded as one of the noblest karmas (Actions which gives rise to destiny). According to Hindu Scriptures, a householder who earns a livelihood and prepares food daily has a duty to share it through donation. Scriptures state that when food is offered with pure intent to a deserving recipient, the donor receives appropriate spiritual rewards, is freed from demerits, and progresses closer to God. Annadan also brings spiritual upliftment of the donor.

The significance of donation in Hindu culture : Donation holds a place of great importance in Indian culture. It includes various forms such as donating wealth, food, clothing, and knowledge. Donation is said to destroy demerits and generate merits. The Mahabharat states that there is no treasure on Earth equal to donation.

2. Donate for food to Sanatan Ashrams engaged incessantly in the propagation of Dharma

In the present times, when there is a decline in Dharma, spreading spiritual awareness has become essential. Offering food to Saints, institutions, or organisations engaged in this mission is considered the highest form of donation.

Sanatan Sanstha is committed to protecting the Nation and bringing about awakening on Dharma. Sanatan's Ashrams and Sevakendras actively carry out this mission. Recognising the importance of serving the Nation & Dharma, hundreds of seekers reside in these Ashrams and perform full-time satseva.

Devotees now have the opportunity to contribute by offering financial assistance for food served in these Ashrams, which incessantly continue their mission of the spread of Dharma. Those who wish to participate in this noble cause during Adhikmas may contact :

To learn Spirituality, some people focus on reading spiritual texts. However, Spirituality is the science of action. It is essential to perform sadhana. Instead of just studying Spirituality, emphasis should be on offering one's body, mind, and wealth - meaning, on performing sadhana.
