Bill introduced in US Congress to protect Hindu temples and other places of worship !
Washington (USA) - In the wake of attacks on places of worship of minority communities in the United States, a new bill has been introduced in the US Congress.
The bill is titled 'Protection from Obstruction of Access to Temples and Religious Places Act', and its objective is to safeguard Hindu temples and other places of worship from attacks. Under this law, threatening, obstructing, or harassing individuals within a 100-foot radius of any place of worship will be considered an organised crime. (Such a law should be implemented in India too ! - Editor)
The bill was introduced by Tom Suozzi and supported by Max Miller. The Hindu American Foundation has stated that there has been a concerning rise in incidents of targeting and desecration of Hindu temples across the United States, leading to a sense of insecurity among Hindu devotees. This bill also grants victims the right to file civil suits. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in hate crimes in the United States. Religious communities such as Hindus, Jews, Muslims, and Sikhs have expressed serious concerns regarding their safety.
