Congress to stick to its decision at government and national programmes in Karnataka
New Delhi - Amid the ongoing political controversy over the singing of the complete Vande Mataram, Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has made Congress's position clear.
He said that, in accordance with the party's decision, only the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram would be sung at government and national programmes in Karnataka, as well as at Congress programmes. He also made it clear that his Government would stand by the decision taken by the party. He was speaking at an event.
Asked about the complete Vande Mataram having been sung at an Independence Day programme in Karnataka, he said that this would not happen in future. He reiterated that only the two stanzas stipulated by Congress would be sung at government programmes.
