Case of Muslim wedding booked at Shri Ram Temple Hall in Shimla (Himachal Pradesh)!
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) - The Hindu Sangharsh Samiti has objected to the booking made by a Muslim family for conducting a nikah (marriage ceremony) at the hall of Shri Ram Temple, which is managed by the Sood Sabha.
The committee has warned that if the permission is not withdrawn, a protest procession will be organized at the venue on the same day. Following this warning, tension has arisen in the area, and the administration has become alert.
1. Mohammad Nasir, a resident of Idgah Colony in Shimla, has reserved the Shri Ram Temple hall for his daughter's nikah, scheduled to take place on April 11th.
2. Hindu Sangharsh Samiti leaders Vijay Sharma and Madan Thakur stated that they oppose the conduct of a Muslim family's wedding on temple-owned premises. According to them, the concerned family should hold the ceremony at a mosque or madrasa rather than at a property associated with a temple.
3. Rajiv Sood, President of Sood Sabha Shimla, said that Muslim families have previously conducted nikah ceremonies in the Shri Ram Temple hall as well. He added that both the Constitution of India and the rules of the Sood Sabha do not permit discrimination on the basis of religion. Whether it is a marriage ceremony or a nikah, the existing ban on alcohol and non-vegetarian food at the venue will continue to remain in force. Special attention is given to cleanliness at the premises, and more than 15 nikah ceremonies of Muslim families have been held there over the past 5 years. He further stated that if concerns continue to be raised regarding the matter, it will be discussed in the executive committee meeting.
