Mumbai - Women in society should become aware of the Constitution of India, said Rupali Chakankar, Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women. She further stated that women have been confined within religious scriptures, while reading the Constitution has been neglected. She added that when a daughter is sent to her marital home after marriage, she should be given a copy of the Constitution in her hands.

Chakankar made this statement while speaking at a special programme organised by the Commission at the Ravindra Natya Mandir in Mumbai on the occasion of International Women's Day.
