The 25-year-old's latest double continued an astonishing run of form for his country. Haaland has now scored 24 goals in his last 12 international appearances and has found the net in each of those matches. His overall tally stands at 59 goals in just 52 appearances for Norway.
The brace also placed him among an elite group of World Cup performers. Haaland became only the second player in the last 50 years, after England captain Harry Kane in 2018, to score two goals in each of his first two World Cup appearances.
