Shillong, May 14: Shillong Lajong FC will look to keep their Indian Football League 2025-26 title hopes alive when they host Rajasthan United FC in their final home match of the season at the SSA Stadium, Polo, on Friday evening.

The Reds head into the crucial encounter after grinding out a hard-fought 1-1 draw away against Sreenidi Deccan FC and will hope to make full use of home advantage in front of what is expected to be a vocal crowd in Shillong.Currently second in the standings with 22 points from 12 matches, Lajong remain firmly in contention for the title with just two fixtures left in the campaign. A victory against Rajasthan United would further intensify the title race ahead of leaders Diamond Harbour FC's clash against Dempo SC on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the match, Lajong head coach Birendra Thapa said the team remains focused on taking things one game at a time despite the pressure at the business end of the season.
"We are positive and focused on getting a good result tomorrow. There is still a mathematical chance for us, but our focus remains on taking it one game at a time," Thapa said. The coach also warned against underestimating Rajasthan United, insisting that the visitors are capable of causing problems despite having little left to play for in terms of league standings.
"Rajasthan United may not have much to play for in terms of standings, but they are a quality side. We cannot afford to take them lightly," he added.
Tickets for the match will be available at The Electronic Centre in Khyndailad, Cafe Shillong in Laitumkhrah and the SSA Stadium ticket counter at Polo. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 pm and will be telecast live on Sony Sports Network, DD Sports, Sony Liv and Waves.
