Guwahati, April 6: In a significant initiative aimed at inspiring future pharmacy professionals, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) today organised an awareness programme titled "Inspire & Interact" with pharmacy students from across the Northeast at The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) and featured an enlightening address by Dr. Montukumar M. Patel, President, Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).

The event also witnessed an engaging interactive session with students led by Dr.
Montukumar M. Patel, Shri Jashubhai H. Choudhari, Vice President, Pharmacy Council of
India, along with other members of the Pharmacy Council of India. The interactive session
provided students with valuable insights into the evolving pharmaceutical sector, academic
opportunities, and professional responsibilities, according to a Press release.

Apart from students of RGU, the programme saw enthusiastic participation from several
institutions of the region, including Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam Don Bosco
University, Assam Down Town University, NETAS Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, NEF
College of Pharmacy, Pratiksha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rahman Institute of
Pharmaceutical Education and Research, J.B. College of Pharmacy, and NEPEDS College of
Pharmaceutical Sciences, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Patel stressed the need for a strong industry-academia
connection, noting that such platforms help students align their academic learning with real-
world industry expectations. Appreciating RGU for organising the event, he lauded the
university for creating meaningful opportunities for students to directly interact with national-
level regulatory leaders and experts.
Dr. Patel further stated that pharmacy students can contribute immensely to the development
of the Northeast region, particularly at a time when new industrial opportunities are
emerging, including the upcoming semiconductor plant in the region. He encouraged students
to embrace entrepreneurship and innovation, remarking that if local youth do not seize these
opportunities, others from outside the region may step in and lead.
Stressing the professional relevance of pharmacy education, he stated that in every job related
to drugs, medicines, and allied healthcare sectors, a pharmacy degree is essential. Expressing
his vision for the future, Dr. Patel concluded by saying that he wishes to see the Northeast
emerge as the pharma hub of the country, driven by skilled professionals, innovation, and
region-specific enterprise.
