Hollywood stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, currently enjoying box-office success with The Devil Wears Prada 2, have opened up about the possibility of a third installment in the popular franchise.
The trio agreed that any continuation would depend heavily on the quality of the script. Streep emphasized that a "perfect" script would be essential for her return, while Blunt echoed that sentiment, saying the story must be strong.
Hathaway added that beyond the script, all key cast members would need to agree to come back. Blunt also stressed the importance of retaining the "core four," including Stanley Tucci.
In the sequel, Streep reprises her iconic role as Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief, alongside Hathaway's Andy Sachs, now a senior editor at Runway.
Their storyline involves reconnecting with Emily Charlton (Blunt), who now leads Dior's US operations, as they seek advertising support.
Reflecting on returning to their roles years later, Hathaway shared how her personal growth-from a 22-year-old newcomer to a settled family life-helped her approach the character differently.
Streep described stepping back into Miranda's shoes as natural and enjoyable, while Blunt expressed delight in revisiting her bold, sharp-tongued character.
With the film performing well in cinemas, the cast's openness has fuelled speculation about a third chapter-though for now, they remain clear that it will only happen if the story truly delivers.
Streep applauds Tucci's style and charm
Meryl Streep paid a heartfelt tribute to Stanley Tucci during his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles, where he was honoured alongside Emily Blunt.
Speaking at the event, Streep praised Tucci's elegance, charm, and versatility as an actor, highlighting his ability to bring depth and originality to every role.
She described him as "urbane, sly, funny," and credited him with elevating character roles into leading-man performances.
Reflecting on their long friendship and collaborations in films like The Devil Wears Prada and Julie & Julia, Streep also shared a personal note, expressing deep affection and admiration for Tucci.
She said she has known him longer as a friend than a co-star and values both their professional and personal bond.
Streep concluded by expressing her enthusiasm to work with him again, calling him an irresistible talent and a cherished friend.
Meryl Streep calls Lady Gaga 'divine' in Prada 2
The Devil Wears Prada 2 has gained attention for its star-studded moments, including a notable appearance by Lady Gaga. Meryl Streep, who reprises her role as Miranda Priestly, praised Gaga as "divine," calling her hilarious, talented, and a top-tier artist.
Gaga also contributed three songs to the film's soundtrack and appears as herself during a Milan Fashion Week scene.
Streep said she personally invited Gaga to join the project, which the singer accepted immediately.
Anne Hathaway also praised Gaga's humility and professionalism on set despite her busy tour schedule
Anne Hathaway's favourite outfit
Anne Hathaway, currently receiving positive response for The Devil Wears Prada 2, revealed that her favourite outfit from the film was ultimately cut from the final version.
She described it as a "Phoebe Philo T-shirt, train thing," calling it more of a unique garment she loved wearing as her character Andy Sachs.
Hathaway said director David Frankel informed her the look was removed after she had already praised it as her favourite.
The outfit was previously photographed during filming in New York, featuring a white T-shirt with a flowing train, white cropped pants, and matching accessories.
She also reflected on how both she and her character have evolved, noting that Andy is now more confident and focused on authenticity compared to the earlier film. (Agencies)
