Synopsis: Bengaluru public prosecutor Savitha Naveen Patil, 55, was arrested on 1 June after allegedly accepting a ₹5,000 bribe from complainant Manjunath.

Lokayukta Police registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

A public prosecutor attached to the City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru has been nabbed while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 from a complainant on 1 June.

The accused, Savitha Naveen Patil, 55, is serving as a public prosecutor in Bengaluru and is said to have demanded the money to file objections in a case registered at Chennamanakere Achukattu Police Station, reported The Hindu.

The complainant, Manjunath, 40, a resident of Banashankari, approached the Lokayukta alleging that the prosecutor had solicited the bribe to perform her official duties.

Following the complaint, the Lokayukta Police registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The prosecutor was allegedly caught in the act of receiving the ₹5,000 bribe and was later arrested.
