WATCH: Harbhajan Singh salutes Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal for their explosive batting against MI

In a rain-driven game reduced to 11 overs in Guwahati, the Rajasthan Royals bamboozled the Mumbai Indians, bowling a 150-run total, to be more specific, the opening pair, Yashasvi Jaiswal and 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, once again go berserk with their willow.

Jaiswal scored a 32-ball 77, remaining unbeaten, and Vaibhav made a quickfire 39 in 14 balls before being taken out by Shardul Thakur.

Former Indian and Mumbai Indians player Harbhajan Singh, in the commentary panel for Star Sports, was awed by the carnage of these two batters and stood up and paid tribute to them by saluting their brilliance. Thanks to Jaiswal and Vaibhav, RR made history today by just scoring 50 in 2.4 overs, being the joint fastest 50 in IPL history.

RR Wreck Havoc on MI

Both teams are strong sides in IPL 2026 and are expected to reach the Playoffs. Hardik Pandya opted to field in a rain-reduced game in 11 overs and overcast conditions. But the opening pair of Jiaswal and Vaibhav is fearless and aggressive. Not a slogger but a stunner indeed. They get going from Ball 1, embodying the intent that the modern T20 game showcases. Jaiswal set the boundary procession rolling with four fours and a six in the opening over off seamer Deepak Chahar.

Facing up against India seam king Bumrah for the first time, RR's 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi clubbed a six off the first delivery of the second over before smashing another maximum in the same over.

Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal then took on left-arm seamer Trent Boult for a humongous three sixes in the subsequent over as RR raced past 50 in only 2.4 deliveries, equalling their fastest team fifty in IPL history and the joint-second quickest ever in the tournament. Viabhav was in front foot until he got out, then Jaiswal took matters into his own hand to destroy the MI bowlers.

Vaibhav is just a prodigy at what he is doing at 15 years, just pure out of the world talent, he now has the most sixes ( 35*) as a teenager in IPL history, surpassing Pant.

The Indian selectors will surely have a tough time selecting Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Gill, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal for upcoming Indian matches.

But Vaibhav, for sure, is debuting for the senior team this year in T20I matches against Ireland.

Fastest IPL team fifties

Royal Challengers Bangalore - 2.3 overs vs KTK, 2011

Rajasthan Royals - 2.4 overs vs KKR, 2023

Rajasthan Royals - 2.4 overs vs MI, 2026*

Kings XI Punjab - 2.5 overs vs DD, 2018

Although MI too has a deep batting lineup, RR too boasts of balancing bowling side consisting of Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger in powerplays and then a spin attack of Bishnoi. MI is already 5 wickets down chasing 150 against RR, but let's see if any miracle happens till the end.
