Rohit Sharma's Transformation Is Stunning: MSK Prasad

Rohit Sharma is performing outstandingly from the last year and has become a regular member of the Indian team in every format. The outgoing chief selector MSK Prasad believes that one good away Test series will change Rohit's mindset.

Since his international debut in 2007, Rohit Sharma has gradually developed himself. After he was promoted as an opener in limited-overs cricket, Rohit has remarkably improved his character and has evolved as one of the superstars in Indian cricket history. While he is the second-most T20I runs-scorer, he is presently the second-ranked ODI batsman.

Though Rohit Sharma was struggling hugely in Test cricket, the team management tried him as a Test opener from last October when the team was struggling to set that place. From the very first innings in that test, Rohit has impressed as a Test opener.

The right-handed batsman has scored 556 runs in six Test innings as an opener (average 92.66). In this period, he has hit three Test centuries, including his maiden Test double-century. During the home Test series against South Africa in late 2019, he won the Player of the Series award for scoring 529 runs in four innings.

In a recent interview to Sportstar, Prasad said, 'Well, Rohit is now an all-format player. His transformation is stunning. We know his unbelievable talent in white ball cricket with those double centuries. And, in the last four to five months as a Test opener, he has shown his class. I wish he has one good away series. That should change his mindset.'

However, Rohit Sharma will miss the forthcoming away Test series against New Zealand. He played in the five-match T20I series of this tour which India won by the 5-0 margin. Rohit also led the Indian team in the last game of that series. But he received the calf injury during that game, and it has forced him to miss the remainder of this tour.

After the ongoing three-match ODI series, India will play the two-match Test series against the hosts New Zealand. But Rohit will miss this Test series.
