Watch: Virat Kohli Takes Brilliant Catch to Dismiss Set Marnus Labuschagne in Bengaluru ODI
There is no doubt that Indian captain Virat Kohli's cricketing quality along with incredible fitness is at the top. He once again proved it with a brilliant catch to dismiss the set Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne during Bengaluru ODI.
India and Australia are currently partaking in the Bengaluru ODI, which is the third and final game of the three-match ODI series. It is the series-decider match as both teams have won one match each in this series.
The visitors Australia have decided to bat first after winning the toss in Bengaluru. However, they failed to manage a good start due to loss of both the openers cheaply during the mandatory first powerplay of that innings. Opener David Warner (3) was caught behind in Mohammed Shami's over, while the captain and another opener Aaron Finch (19) failed to save his wicket after a horrific mix-up between him and Steven Smith .
While Australia were struggling at 46 for two, Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne controlled that innings and put the team back on track. As the time moves on, the in-form duo Smith and Labuschagne kept the scoreboard ticking. They set up a 127-run partnership while both of them completed their respective half-centuries. Later, Smith recorded his ninth ODI ton.Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith (Image Credit: Google)
Marnus Labuschagne lost his wicket on 54 courtesy Virat Kohli's brilliant catch:
It was the maiden ODI half-century for Labuschagne, who is currently in superb form with the bat. After scoring 54 runs off 64 balls (5 fours), Labuschagne lost his wicket following a superb catch by the Indian captain Virat Kohli.Virat Kohli ended Marnus Labuschagne's innings in Bengaluru ODI (Image Credit: Google)
It was the 32nd over of Australian innings when that big partnership was finally broken. On the third ball of that over, Labuschagne played a drive on the bowling of Indian left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja but failed to keep it down. Indian captain Kohli brilliantly grabbed that opportunity after making a superb dive to his right side. After securing that much-needed wicket, Kohli entertained one and all with his familiar celebration.
