Bangalore authorities have initiated the tendering process for the first construction package of the long-delayed Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC), previously known as the Peripheral Ring Road project.

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has invited bids for civil works covering a nearly 20 km section.

Confirming the development on X, BBCL chairman LK Atheeq said, "We have invited tenders for Package 1 of PRR-1 from BIEC Madavara (near Nelamangala) to Airport/Bellary Road."

The tender relates to Package 1 of the corridor, which will connect Tumakuru Road with Bellary Road. The estimated project cost for this stretch stands at Rs 3,348 crore.

According to the tender documents, the contract will follow a Design, Build, Operate and Transfer model and will include ten years of operation and maintenance responsibilities for the selected contractor.

The construction timeline for the package has been set at 36 months, while the bidding process is expected to conclude by May 2026.

The project is being implemented through Bengaluru Business Corridor Ltd, a special purpose vehicle established to execute the large-scale corridor project.

A MoneyControl report also stated that around 83 per cent of land acquisition for this package has already been completed.

The broader project, estimated to cost around Rs 27,000 crore, will be financed through a loan from Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), with a large share earmarked for land acquisition.

Authorities explained that the project cost has increased substantially compared with earlier estimates due to design changes and expanded scope.

A senior official was quoted as saying in the same MoneyControl report that "the project has undergone major modifications. Integration with NICE Road at Madavara is highly complex, and two large loops have been added."

Additional changes include widening the right of way to 65 metres, adding extra service road lanes and introducing a cloverleaf interchange at Doddaballapur Road.

The elevated section passing through forest land and the Indian Veterinary Research Institute campus has also been extended.

Once completed, the corridor is expected to ease congestion by creating an access-controlled ring road linking major arterial routes across the city.
